Addressing the controversy in a video statement posted to his Instagram account, Hashmi said: “Perhaps they hurt some persons, and I never intended this since I was only expressing my own opinions on air.”
“I respect women, and I respect every one of all the genders and of all the communities I have… I believe in equality, and I believe in diversity,” he continued.
The actor claimed that because the show is of a type where celebrities make outrageous remarks, this forced him to engage in the same behavior. In our conversation, he admitted that some of the things that he said were not funny but rather rude and inappropriate.
